Jeff Crank votes to kill substance abuse and mental health funding for Colorado Springs
After previously voting to gut Medicaid in Colorado and kick tens of thousands off their healthcare, Crank voted with Lauren Boebert for a MAGA attempt to further gut healthcare for his constituents
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Rep. Jeff Crank is continuing his all-out assault on Coloradans’ healthcare.
Yesterday, Crank voted for an extreme MAGA amendment to the appropriations bill that sought to strike local project funding from a key part of the package. The measure had bipartisan opposition, with more than 70 members of his own party voting against it, including Colorado Republican Reps. Jeff Hurd and Gabe Evans.
That included a critical project in his own district – funding for the Colorado Springs Community Health Partnership to boost substance abuse and mental health treatment for local residents.
Crank has previously voted in numerous ways to raise premiums and take healthcare away from his constituents. After Crank refused to fully extend the Affordable Care Act, health insurance premiums have now doubled on average for more than 200,000 Coloradans, forcing them to pay more for the same care.
That came after Crank gutted Medicaid, kicking nearly 25,000 of his constituents off their healthcare, putting rural hospitals and providers at risk of closure or cutting services, and pushing nursing homes to the brink of closure.
Fourth-generation Coloradan and Army veteran Jessica Killin said, “Crank has once again put his extreme ideology over the needs of his constituents. I will always fight for the healthcare resources that our community needs, including mental health and substance use care.”
