PRESS RELEASE

NEW POLL: Army Veteran Jessica Killin Pulls Ahead in Colorado’s Fifth District

Momentum surging for Killin in final weeks with huge lead among unaffiliated voters

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — A new poll conducted October 14-18 shows Army veteran Jessica Killin pulling ahead of Rep. Jeff Crank in Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District — 46% to 44%, with a 53% to 32% lead among unaffiliated voters.

While Republicans have a double-digit advantage on party registration, both parties are tied on the generic ballot (44% to 44%) and voters prefer the Democratic candidate for governor by two points. This is largely because unaffiliated voters are breaking for Democrats, Donald Trump’s favorability is sinking among unaffiliated and swing voters, and Crank is less well liked than Killin. While Crank is deeply unpopular among unaffiliated voters, Killin remains above water with unaffiliated voters despite millions of dollars in desperate false attack ads being run against her by Trump-affiliated dark money groups.

The poll is the latest indicator of Killin’s surging momentum and that she is well positioned to become the first Democrat to represent Colorado’s 5th congressional district. The Cook Report moved the district toward Killin in late September, and the DCCC has Killin on its priority “Red to Blue” list. Despite Crank’s allies, including Donald Trump’s No Going Back PAC, spending millions on lies and vicious, baseless attacks against Killin, she is on track to win.

Army Veteran Jessica Killin said, “Every day, we are hearing from Republican, Democrat, and unaffiliated voters who are ready for a leader who actually listens and shows up for our community.  It’s clear they are exhausted by Jeff Crank, his refusal to meet with his constituents, and his constant rubber-stamping of Trump’s disastrous economic agenda and war in Iran that keeps driving prices up.”
