The Trump-Crank Economy Is Failing El Paso County
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Today, in his State of the Union Address, President Trump touted an economy that does not reflect the reality of American families. Jeff Crank has repeatedly backed Trump and voted to raise costs and put partisanship over the people of our district: voting to protect Trump’s tariffs, slash ACA subsidies, and add $4.7 trillion to the national debt.
Coloradans are paying the cost of Trump’s tariffs: The average Colorado family has paid more than $1,700 in higher costs from Trump's inflation and tariffs. Colorado businesses paid over $767 million in tariffs from February to December last year. Crank voted multiple times to protect Trump’s cost-raising tariffs and failed to do his duty as a representative of our community.
46% of Coloradans believe that Colorado's economy will get worse next year, and only 12% think that it will get better.
Jeff Crank also voted against extending ACA subsidies. For over 270,000 Coloradans with ACA coverage, healthcare premiums could nearly double. As a result, more people are canceling their plans or choosing not to enroll in health insurance, which puts their financial futures in peril. An estimated 75,000 Coloradans would lose their health insurance due to premium increases. Coloradans already have $1 billion in medical debt, and Jeff Crank is cutting access and increasing costs.
A proud fourth-generation Coloradan and Army veteran, Jessica Killin said, “Jeff Crank has put Trump over what his constituents need: lowering costs, a strong and stable economy, access to affordable healthcare, and a path forward for a better future for all Americans. Name-calling and political games are not serving this country. I will fight for Coloradans and will never put partisanship or a president over this community.”
