Jessica Killin for Congress

PRESS RELEASE

Army Veteran Jessica Killin hosts 100th Event in CO-05: Republicans for Killin

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Yesterday, Army Veteran Jessica Killin hosted “Republicans for Killin,” a meet-and-greet with Republicans and former Crank voters who are supporting Killin.

The event also marked the 100th event that Jessica Killin has hosted in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District since launching her campaign. While Jeff Crank has refused to host a single in-person town hall and said, “I'm not interested in doing that,” Killin has hosted 100 events open to the public, including meet-and-greets, coffees with Killin, roundtables, panels, and a town hall.

Bruce Barron, a lifelong Republican and former Republican staffer, said:

“When Jeff Crank took office, we thought he was going to be one of the reasonable Republicans. I sent him two letters in February and April 2025, begging him to stand up to Donald Trump's insanity. When that happened, we quickly became fed up. By the beginning of 2026, we were looking to see if there was somebody who could possibly flip this previously unflippable seat. In February, we went to one of Jessica's house parties. And we were immediately impressed and engaged. I did not expect to find somebody so competent, well-funded, and committed to putting country over party and really trying to pursue reconciliation across party lines. As a result, I went from being a RINO — Republican in Name Only —  to a RENF — Republican Enjoying New Friendships.”

Bill Clohan, a lifelong Republican but now unaffiliated voter, shared at the event:

  • “I carried signs for Barry Goldwater in 1964. That tells you a little bit about my age, but also about my parents' political proclivities. I was at the Nixon inaugurations in 1969 and 1973. I had a few roles along the way.” He continued, “I was also national president of the Ripon Society. For those of you who don't know, the Republican Party was founded in Ripon, Wisconsin. I also worked with Republican Main Street, which largely supported the moderate wing of the Republican conference.”

  • “I'm sure you've seen this several times, but [Crank has] supported the president 100% of the time in his votes. That includes the Epstein files and the war in Iran, where we still don't have a clear objective, at least none that I can determine. There's no strategy that I can see. And even today, it's clear that the president wants to cozy up to Putin and other autocrats around the world, including in Hungary. That's a negative thing. The unethical activities of this president are beyond me.”

  • “Today, when a politician supports 100% of another politician's positions and policies, even when I believe those positions are unsupported, I have a problem with that. Whether it's tariffs, the lack of support for Ukrainians, or the other problems we're facing, it's concerning. That's coming from someone who spent decades as a Republican. When Donald Trump became the nominee, it changed my nation. I'm still an independent, not a Democrat. With that, I encourage you all to support Jessica and do whatever you can to help.”

Fourth-generation Coloradan and Army Veteran Jessica Killin said, “What I’ve heard from voters at these one hundred events is that they want a representative who will show up, listen to them, answer tough questions, and then stand up for them in Congress. Jeff Crank has refused to do that, even locking his office doors on his constituents. I will hold an in-person town hall every quarter, and listen to my constituents regardless of their affiliation, and I will always put El Paso County and our country ahead of my party, because that is the job.”
