ICYMI: Jessica Killin Launches Campaign and Shatters Fundraising Records
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – In case you missed it, multiple outlets reported on Jessica Killin’s campaign launch for Colorado’s 5th Congressional District and her record-breaking $750,000 fundraising haul in the first 24 hours of her race. Jessica Killin is a fourth-generation Coloradan, veteran, private sector leader, public servant, and mom running to bring courage, competence, and character to Washington. Jessica Killin’s strong campaign launch positions her well to unseat vulnerable Republican Jeff Crank and bring results and competent leadership to Southern Colorado.
Read highlights of Jessica's campaign launch below from Colorado Public Radio, Colorado Sun, the Denver Post, Colorado Politics, and Fox 21 News Colorado.
Killin explained that her upbringing in Colorado Springs among veterans and servicemembers has defined her lifelong commitment to service, including her service as a Captain and a paratrooper in the US Army.
“Colorado Springs, and this community in particular, have instilled in me the values that have propelled me throughout my entire career,” Killin said. “Those are mainly selfless service and patriotism.”
Killin is focused on addressing the issues that impact El Paso County most, and wants to run to bring leadership to Washington that puts people over politics.
Killin said, “I think so many of our politics have gotten so extreme on both the left and the right. I’m focused on actual real, pragmatic solutions and listening to people and engaging with people where they are.”
The Denver Post: Former Army officer to challenge for Colorado Springs congressional district
Jessica is driven by the need for better representation for El Paso County, which it is lacking with Jeff Crank as its Congressman.
“The Pikes Peak Region deserves results-oriented, competent leadership. Instead, Jeff Crank has let his constituents down, voting to kick thousands off health care while raising the national debt by trillions,” Killin said.
Jessica Killin also expressed her concern for the next generation as the Republican budget bill will increase the debt by over $3 trillion. She believes it is imperative to restore fiscal order in Congress.
"I'm a mom, and as a mom, I believe we cannot saddle our kids with a level of debt that's unsustainable," Killin said. "And it leads me to believe that Jeff Crank either doesn't know what this community needs, or he doesn't care — neither of which is OK. So I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves, working my butt off and winning every vote."

Jessica cares deeply about the issues that impact most Coloradans and brings the perspective of a veteran, public servant, and mom to everything she does.
“As a veteran, public servant, and mom, I understand the challenges Colorado families face every day, as well as the opportunities they rightly want a chance to pursue,” said Killin.
Killin also shattered the record for the highest fundraising amount announced through the first 24 hours of any congressional challenger this cycle and the most of any congressional challenger in Colorado history.
Multiple outlets covered her record-breaking fundraising haul, including the coverage from the Gazette and Colorado Politics highlighted below.
The Gazette: Democratic challenger to Crank sees record fundraising
Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib explained the enthusiasm for new leadership due to the extensive ways Jeff Crank has let down his constituents.
"Jeff Crank only knows how to obey Donald Trump, not listen to his constituents. He’s done his Party’s bidding by voting to kick people off their health care, make life even more expensive for working people, and has barely lifted a finger to protect things like Space Command — it’s time for a change,” said Murib.
Jessica Killin also emphasized the strong showing of support as a sign that Coloradans want someone who will work for the issues that matter to them.
Killin said, "Southern Colorado deserves a representative who prioritizes them and will bring pragmatic solutions and independent leadership to Washington, unlike Jeff Crank, who just voted to add over $3 trillion to our national debt while stripping 225,000 Coloradans of their health care. This outpouring of support shows that Coloradans are ready for real leadership, and I'm ready to get to work for El Paso County."
