CO-05 Added to the DCCC’s Districts in Play List for the First Time in History
Historic move spurred by Jessica Killin’s candidacy, which the Colorado Sun reported gives Democrats “a stronger 5th District candidate this year than they’ve likely ever had”
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced today that it added Colorado’s 5th Congressional District to its Districts in Play List, placing CO-05 among the top pick-up opportunities for Democrats in the country.
This designation follows recent polling showing a tied race and national race raters shifting the district in the Democrats’ favor. Additionally, Jessica Killin entered 2026 with $1.1 million in the bank, outpacing incumbent Jeff Crank.
As the Colorado Sun reported today, the move was due to the fact that Democrats “have a stronger 5th District candidate this year than they’ve likely ever had in Jessica Killin, an Army veteran who was raised in Colorado Springs.”
CO-05 is now a true battleground and is the fastest Democratic-trending Congressional district in the country.
Jessica Killin is the Democrat who will flip this seat
Jessica Killin is an Army Veteran, public servant, private sector leader, and mom. Her experience in the military is well-suited to a district that has over 100,000 service members and veterans, yet has not been represented by a veteran in over 40 years. As a fourth-generation Coloradan, she also has deep roots in the district, growing up in Colorado Springs to two public school educators.
And when it comes to building a winning campaign, the numbers make one thing clear: Jessica Killin stands alone in her ability to compete and win.

That’s why she’s been endorsed by the entire Democratic Congressional Delegation, including Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper, and Congressmembers Jason Crow, Diana DeGette, Joe Neguse, and Brittany Pettersen.
